I’m so sad to hear Shannen Doherty has passed. This may be strange to post to some but we were born on the same day and year, and I felt a strange kindred spirit with her. I loved her in Beverly Hills 90210, Charmed and Heathers, and as a teen she was everything I wanted to be. Even fighting cancer for 9 years she remained positive, real and raw.
To my inner child, she was fierce when girls were meant to be pliant. She was outspoken when girls were meant to be quiet. She was passionate when girls were meant to be sweet. I respected that so much. She was everything I needed to see and hear - she made me feel like contrary to what I'd been told growing up, that I was okay.
She was wild. She was a warrior. She was a bold. An unapologetically raw truth teller.
Rest in Peace Shannen Doherty. Thank you for teaching me that being fierce is not something I should ever be ashamed of. And to those of you who may still be feeling like you're "too much", take this as permission to let that go, know that you are beautiful and live as large as you want to. Unapologetically, gloriously, wonderfully, authentically you.
